YourOrthoSolution is a nationwide network of physicians who specialize in orthopedic care. Our surgeons and sports medicine physicians apply a personally tailored approach to assessing the acute or chronic pain that has been preventing you from living life without limitations.
An ambulatory surgery center (ASC) is a freestanding medical facility that offers same-day preventive services and surgical procedures. ASCs have been providing high-quality outpatient surgery for almost 50 years, with Medicare permitting more than 3,500 procedures to be performed at more than 5,600 approved surgery centers. ASCs are low-cost alternatives to hospital surgeries.
Hospital outpatient departments (HOPDs) are the setting where surgical procedures were traditionally performed before ambulatory surgery centers changed the landscape of orthopedic care. Surgeries performed at our ASCs generally cost about half the price of those at HOPDs.
Patient satisfaction scores indicate the percentage of patients who were happy with their experience at an ambulatory surgery center and the likelihood they would recommend the facility to a family member or friend. These scores are calculated by Press Ganey, which administers the Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems Outpatient and Ambulatory Surgery (OAS CAHPS) survey.
The AAAHC is the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. The organization is a leader in ambulatory healthcare accreditation with more than 6,100 organizations accredited. It accredits a wide range of outpatient settings, including ambulatory surgery centers, office-based surgery facilities and endoscopy centers.
Healthcare Bluebook is a great resource to assess how much your surgical procedure may cost. You can easily search any orthopedic procedure to find out how much you should be paying in your area and compare price information and quality rankings to help make smarter healthcare choices.
If you a Medicare beneficiary, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has a Procedure Price Lookup Tool to compare average payments and copayments for surgical procedures performed in HOPDs and ASCs. To best utilize the tool, obtain the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) code for your outpatient surgery. There are multiple variations for certain procedures, so ask your doctor or physician billing department for the specific CPT code.
Yes, surgery centers are very safe. Our centers undergo voluntary accreditation by the Ambulatory Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC), one of the national organizations that accredits a wide variety of ambulatory healthcare settings. Centers are also licensed by the state and certified by Medicare to ensure you receive the best orthopedic care.
